Vintage cars and Red Indian chiefs were among the mix of attractions at Tickhill’s annual village gala at the weekend.

Glorious weather boosted the crowd numbers at the Tithes Lane recreation ground for the gala, which was organised by the the town’s 13th Doncaster Scout Group.

The gala started with the floats decorated by schools, groups and organisations parading from Wong Lane, led by Bramley Brass Marching Band.

Entertainment included a fancy dress competition, face painting, puppet show, roundabouts, bouncy castle, crafts and a variety of stalls and refreshments.

Chainsaw sculptor Ben Loughrill, Bezerkas Circus Workshop, a birds of prey flying display, the Green Oak Morris Men made appearances and Doncaster Traditional Car Club brought along some of their well preserved old motors.

Shopkeepers also decorated their premises ready for the Best Dressed Window competition. Gala proceeds will go towards maintaining the St Mary’s Road Scout and Guide HQ.
