A CHESTERFIELD store has had its licence to sell alcohol suspended after an investigation by Derbyshire County Council.
Walton Stores on St Augustine's Road was investigated after five complaints from members of the public - and trading standards officers and Derbyshire Police watched an under-age youngster buy booze from the shop.
The store's licence was suspended for a month and more conditions imposed on the licence, including improving CCTV, providing extra staff training, adopting a proof-of-age scheme and tightening up the system for recording refused sales of alcohol.
The shop owners can appeal the ban.
Coun Carol Hart, Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for communities, said: "We are pleased with the outcome of this review which sends a strong message to retailers to abide by the law.
"This shop had been identified as a problem by the Chesterfield Violence, Alcohol and Licensing Group and we received several complaints.
"By working together we are tackling problems of anti-social behaviour caused by under-age drinking."
