THE story of how a meeting at Doncaster Museum led to the construction of a working steam locomotive is being told in a new film.
Absolutely Chuffed: From Dream to Steam tells the story of the 50th Peppercorn class A1 steam locomotive, called Tornado - the first such engine built for 50 years.
The DVD has been released to tell the story of the construction of the engine from the first meeting in the borough in 1990 and a donation will be made to The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust from sales.
The engine was eventually built in Darlington because no suitable site for the work could be found in Doncaster.
It was constructed to designs originally drawn up by Arthur Peppercorn in Doncaster in the 1940s, with the original locomotives built at the Plant Works in Hexthorpe.
