Chris Cringle turned Evel Knievel as he swooped into Magna Science and Adventure Centre in Rotherham.
Swapping his sleigh and reindeer for a zipwire, Santa Claus showed his daring side as he tackled the 75ft-high and 250ft-long wire to take up residence in the former steelworks for the countdown to Christmas.
Youngsters from Scooter Primary School, Lincolnshire, were forced to duck out of the way during their educational visit to the centre and make way for the bearded daredevil zooming straight towards them.
Richard Smith, visitor services manager at Magna, said: “Since Santa’s arrival is so special, we wanted him to make a memorable entrance and a zipwire seemed just the thing.”
Santa’s grotto is open from 11am until 3pm every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas.
Festive craft workshops are also on offer.
