HANDMADE jewellery by a South Yorkshire artist is going on show at Barnsley’s Cooper Gallery.
Maz Kay, aged 27, from Brampton, specializes in handmade silver jewellery. As a recent graduate of Leeds College of Arts who is supported by the Princes Trust, she was lucky enough to meet Prince Charles during his recent visit to Barnsley earlier this year.
After leaving the college with only a few tools to work with, she slowly began to collect more equipment and materials and started teaching herself, mastering skills and developing techniques.
Maz’s first collection, which is available to buy, consists of rings, bracelets and brooches. Trees and roots inspire her current pieces, together forging silver cooper background and etching.
Cooper Gallery is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm, with free admission.
