FAMILIES and horse-lovers in Sheffield were given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet a real Hollywood star.

Joey, the equine hero of Steven Spielberg’s epic film War Horse, visited Sainsbury’s at Crystal Peaks shopping centre. Shoppers queued all the way from the car park to pose for photographs with Joey and meet his handlers from the set.

And fans of the film even got a special ‘hoof autograph’ from Joey himself.

After grossing more than £100 million at the global box office and racking up six Academy Awards and five BAFTA nominations, War Horse has now been released on DVD.

Phil Finefold, Sainsbury’s store manager, said: “We were delighted to welcome Joey and his handlers to Crystal Peaks as he obviously has a lot of fans here and it was great to see people get the chance to meet such a celebrity.”
