THE 100th anniversary of the opening of Rossington Colliery is being marked with the publication of a book.

Rossington History Group has put together the collection of pictures and stories, under the title Rossington 1912 to 2012, with help from parish councillor John Adam.

The book is available for £4 from the group, or by calling secretary Roy Venables on 01302 430403.

The group meets every Wednesday from 10am until noon at the Parish Memorial Hall, McConnell Crescent.

The colliery failed to reach its centenary, having closed in 2007.
