STUDENTS and staff at Barnsley College have raised more than £25,000 for local and national charities with a series of events.

A total of £25,392.24 was raised through various activities and events such as sponsored walks, charity DVDs and bush tucker trials organised by students as part of both curriculum and extra-curricular projects over the last academic year.

The 39 charities which have benefitted from the fundraising efforts of the college include Help for Heroes, the YMCA, Barnsley Radio, Cancer Research and Albert’s Horse Sanctuary.

A Christmas Carol Concert in aid of Barnsley Hospice raised more than £1,000.
