SHOPPERS in Sheffield are being given a taste of the work which will form part of the city’s celebration of art.
A selection of paintings which will be included in this year’s Great Sheffield Art Show have been hung in shops on The Moor ahead of the event, which launches on June 29.
The artwork is among 2,000 pieces which will be shown at the Octagon Centre in Western Bank until July 1.
The event – set up in 1987 – is heralded as a springboard for success for up-and-coming artists across South Yorkshire.
Mike Fearne, co-organiser of the Great Sheffield Art Show, said: “We’re looking at this year’s event being the biggest we’ve ever had. We’ve weathered the recession and found interest in the event at an all time high. Displaying on The Moor will give people a sneak preview of what they can expect at our three-day anniversary event.”
The art will be displayed on The Moor until June 25.
