THERE is no missing the work of Doncaster College photography students Bethany Rooney and Carl Grey.

They are at the centre of an exhibition at Doncaster Market, which will see shoppers walk past some huge portraits over three weeks.

Beth’s very large, 8ft high and 5ft wide, close up pictures of faces are displayed along the walls of the Corn Exchange next to Goose Hill Market.

And Carl’s smaller intimate portraits of market traders are displayed inside the Corn Exchange on the lower level.

The intention of the students work is to celebrate the market traders as part of the fabric of local communities.

Beth, aged 17, said: “These portraits are designed to make you notice those who serve us humour with our fruit and veg, provide a story with your fish and chips and shout down your ear selling you plums.”

Carl added he liked how the content of each stall begins to mirror a character of the traders, and he liked to think of them as performers.
