WITH these girls cheering them on it’s little wonder the Sheffield Sharks basketball team has been so successful over the last couple of years.

Now the Sirens - that’s the official cheerleading squad - are in need of fresh talent to pom pom it up.

The group are looking for dancers to dazzle the growing crowds attending games at the English Institute of Sport.

“It’s hard work and takes dedication and effort,” says captain and team founder Katie Cooper.

“But it’s also a great laugh and lots of fun.

“We’re all good friends, and there’s no better exercise.”

“Oh, and you might also start getting star-spotted.

“I was out in Crystal Peaks once,” recalls Katie, a 26-year-old business operations assistant.

“A little girl came up to me and asked for my autograph.

“She went to the games with her family and loved watching us - that was really rewarding.”

Dancers must be 16 or over. Some experience required.

Training is Mondays, 6.30pm, at a central Sheffield location.

Games are most Fridays from October to April.
