A PLAY hailed as one of the greatest of the 20th century is set to hit the Sheffield stage.
The Daughter-in-Law, a rarely-performed production from the celebrated poet and novelist DH Lawrence will run at Sheffield Lyceum from Wednesday, February 27, to Saturday, March 23. It was last performed at Sheffield Theatres in 1985.
The play explores the bonds between a mother and her sons, husband and wife and desire and freedom as they are stretched to breaking point.
Lynda Baron, famous for roles in TV’s Open All Hours and Fat Friends, leads the cast as Mrs Gascoyne. Her ambitious daughter-in-law Minnie will be played by award-winning theatre actress Claire Price.
