KIDNEY patients in Sheffield have been given a chance to unleash their creative talents with a five-week workshop run by a professional artist.
Art created by patients at the Northern General Hospital’s Sheffield Kidney Institute was of such a high standard that they are now planning an exhibition in a city gallery.
Artist Sergio Bustamante, from Heeley, who has work exhibited across the world, led the workshops.
Sergio, who is a kidney patient, said: “The experience of working with other kidney patients, and particularly those with complex health issues, has been inspiring.
“I’ve gained so much from the project as an artist and an individual and I hope it was the same for those attending.”
The workshops, which are funded by the British Kidney Patient Association and Sheffield Hospitals Charity, helped the patients create drawings, sculptures and works of poetry.
