Sheffield College plans in focus at series of open evenings

School leavers are to hear all about £15.6 million plans to upgrade Sheffield College at a series of open evenings starting tomorrow.

The first event is at Norton College from 6pm, followed by evenings at Hillsborough College on November 10, Peaks on November 11 and finally Sheffield City College on November 17.

The main development is an £8.8 million extension to Hillsborough College will see the opening of new performing arts, media and horticulture facilities from next September.

Norton is to close, while £6.8 million of improvements are also under way at the Sheffield College of Applied Engineering at Olive Grove.

Young people considering their options will have the chance to find out about full time courses starting in September and tour the college’s facilities.

Teenagers and parents will be able to meet lecturers and discuss future careers options with college advisers.

Current drama students will showcase their skills with live rehearsals at Hillsborough and Norton colleges.

The media staff and student team will demonstrate TV production skills in the studio at Norton, and in a portable one being set up at Hillsborough College.
