Sheffield Children’s Hospital has received £8,045 thanks to North East Derbyshire District Council’s outgoing Chairman, Councillor Ken Savidge’s annual appeal.
Fundraising events during his time in post included a gala celebration dinner, a cake bake-off, a plant sale and street collections.
Councillor Savidge said: “The Children’s Hospital Charity is very close to my heart as a couple of years ago our youngest granddaughter was admitted to and treated at the hospital based in Sheffield and we are delighted with the amount raised.
“They do amazing work and help so many children and families who are suffering or going through painstaking treatment and this money will help improve their facilities and equipment.
“I would like to thank everyone for their kind donations and generosity throughout my year in office and both my wife Jo and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and spreading the word about how good North East Derbyshire is.”
Councillor Tracy Reader, who represents Clay Cross, has been elected as the new Chairman and will raise money for the charity Fairplay.
