Loxley Silver Band members are to travel to Cornwall this week to perform at the album launch of folk-rock band, Love Street.
Earlier in the year Loxley Band, which rehearses in Stannington, Sheffield, spent a day at the city’s Red Tape recording studio with Love Street, putting down the backing for their latest single, ‘Susanna’.
The track, written by Love Street’s Jules Clark, tells the story of the Sheffield Pals Battalion and their tragic sacrifice in World War One on July 1, 1916.
Loxley Silver Band’s secretary, Stuart Young, said: “This year has been a very eventful one for Loxley Band; we have reached and celebrated our 125th anniversary, recorded our own CD ‘Impressions’, and being part of the Love Street project has been the icing on the cake.”
Susanna, which has just been released, has been featured on several radio stations nationwide, including BBC Radio Sheffield.
The band will perform at Love Street’s album launch at The Eden Project on Thursday. Visit www.loxleysilverband.org.uk.
