GET clicking – and enter The Star’s brand new Photographic Competition.

Over recent years, our Letters Pages have benefited thanks to great photos submitted by our readers.

We have been so impressed by the quality and technical skill that we have teamed up with sponsors Peak Imaging to organise this free to enter competition.

What is more, there are great cash prizes to be won...as well as the chance to see your photographs in the Star.

There are five categories. The first three are Town and Country, Sport and Leisure and Pets and Wildlife. There is also a Young Photographer category for anyone under the age of 16 who enters the above categories.

All of these category winners will receive £50 each and an overall winner will be awarded an extra £200. What is more Peak Imaging will give a £5 voucher to every entrant who spends more than £20 with them, including on professional film process and print packages and online digital printing.

The fifth category is for photographs celebrating the multi-cultrual nature of Sheffield and is being organised by One Sheffield Many Cultures (see below for full details of that category).

Star Editor Jeremy Clifford said: “Can I take this opportunity to thank all readers who have submitted photographs for publication in The Star over the years.

“I am continually impressed by their quality. They show real talent and imagination. In fact they are so good that many have been used to illustrate our articles.

“This competition will give us chance to show just how much we value this partnership between The Star and the talented photographers among our readers.”

Any photographs taken during 2011 and up to the competition closing date, on Friday, April 6.

Pictures which may already have been submitted, including those which have been published by us, are eligible for the competition.

Our judges will select the best of the photographs and these will appear in a special supplement on April 10 giving readers chance to vote on their favourite shots.

From these a shortlist will be compiled and an internal panel of judges will make the final selection. The overall winners will be announced on April 21. Only amateur photographers may enter.

One Sheffield Many Cultures will set up their own judging panel to select their winner and runner up.
