A TALENTED schoolboy musician from Sheffield will have one of his compositions recorded by a top national orchestra after finding success in a nationwide competition.
Junaid Reham, aged 14, who attends High Storrs School, is part of a group of 10 young composers who have been picked as winners in the Royal Opera House’s fanfare competition.
To enter, schoolchildren were asked to write an original fanfare lasting for 30 seconds, and the 10 winners will join the opera house’s orchestra on May 19 to record their pieces.
The fanfares will then be played in the venue’s lobbies and bar areas to alert audiences to take their seats in the auditorium, replacing the traditional hand-rung bell.
