Two sixth form pupils from a North Derbyshire school played to their strengths – organising a musical spectacular in aid of a worthy cause.
Mount St Mary’s College sixth formers Caroline Oliver and Laura Burkinshaw, both aged 18, raised hundreds of pounds for Help for Heroes by hosting a tuneful event with a retro theme.
Headlining at the Northerners Night were The Brass Players, who have performed for royalty, appeared on worldwide hit records and award winning feature films, toured all five continents and starred on almost every popular UK television and radio station.
Supporting the stars was the Spinkhill school’s talented brass band, which performed Jupiter from Holst’s Planets Suite for the enthusiastic audience. The event raised more than £500.
