Santa will be swapping his sleigh and reindeers for a zip-wire this year to kick-start Christmas at a South Yorkshire attraction.

He will be performing his stunt inside Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham on Monday, when he takes on the 75ft high and 250ft long zip-wire.

Donna Shaw, Magna marketing co-ordinator, said: “Santa has arrived by zip-wire before and it proved to be a big success.

“Once he’s completed his daring stunt, he’ll be setting up in his magical grotto ready to welcome our young visitors this festive season.”

A Winter Wonderland event will take place at Magna on Saturday and Sunday, November 29 and 30, from 10am to 4pm.

The event will include a Christmas fayre with seasonal stalls, entertainment, pop-up science workshops and a puppet show.

Children can visit Santa in his grotto at the event, and also every weekend up to Christmas.
