A simply marvellous mural has appeared on the side of Sheffield Hallam University’s student union building – painted by a talented graduate.
Sachin Limbachia won a competition to create the work, with a brief of representing what the union does and what it means to Hallam’s students.
His design was chosen by a judging panel made of representatives from the university and the union.
The site specially selected for the work was a prominent one, so it will be seen by hundreds of office workers and shoppers every day.
After his victory, Sachin, who studied graphic design at Hallam, then painted the mural with the help of a team of student volunteers.
He said: “I’m an illustrator and to have your illustrations on a wall in front of loads of people walking past is very cool. Hopefully they’ll look at it and be inspired too.”
Since graduating and completing the mural, Sachin has gone on to work for a company that creates educational animations for children in developing countries.
