THE fourth Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is to be held in Chesterfield’s Queens Park in March to raise cash for charity.
Sport Relief is aimed at raising money for people leading tough lives in the UK and abroad through encouraging people to take part in sport, and the ‘mile’ gives fundraisers the chance to run or walk the distance to raise money.
Participants in the Chesterfield event can also enter three- or six-mile events.
Last year Sport Relief raised £44 million across the UK.
Councillor Nick Stringer, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Chesterfield Borough Council, said: “From teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there’s something for everyone on the big day. The last Chesterfield event had over 200 participants and raised over £15,000. This year we want to make the day even bigger and better.”
