A summer gala is to be held on the site of a new housing development in South Yorkshire.
The event – opposite the Advanced Manufacturing Park, off Sheffield Parkway – is being held on the reclaimed site of Orgreave Colliery and its surrounding tips and slurry ponds, now known as the Waverley development, which will be made up of 4,000 new homes.
The free event – hosted by Harworth Estates, a driving force behind the regeneration – will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 10am.
The gala will include live music, a performance from the musical ‘Grease’ by the pupils of Brinsworth Comprehensive School and a GCSE artwork display.
Other attractions include circus skills workshops, face-painting, a bouncy castle and refreshments.
There will be entertainment for children including competitions, treasure hunts and a luck dip.
Show homes will also be open for members of the public to visit.
Liz Askam, a surveyor for Harworth Estates, said: “We are delighted to host the Waverley Summer Gala and would like to pay special thanks to our event partners as it would have been impossible without their fantastic support.
“It is set to be a brilliant day out for the whole family and we really do have some first-class entertainment and a host of stands and attractions to suit all tastes.
“We look forward to welcoming all visitors and are positive the event will be a great success.”
