main roads through Tickhill, Doncaster, will be closed for more than an hour on Christmas Eve when the town celebrates two big events.
The Crib service at St Mary’s Church, starting at 6pm, will see children from the Rocks and Pebbles and Pathfinders take part in the service and act out their versions of the Christmas story.
Later on the same night, visitors will join the many hundreds of residents at the popular annual Carols at the Buttercross event that gets underway at 7pm.
Those attending the Tickhill Churches Together service, held around the landmark monument and community Christmas tree in the centre of the town, will be able to join in the singing of a programme of favourite carols interspersed by Christmas readings.
Members of Maltby Salvation Army, led by the husband and wife team of Majors Ian and Irene Kerrison, will be bringing along their brass band to accompany the singing.
Refreshments will be served in the Parish Room before and after the event.
Main roads through Tickhill will be closed between 6.45pm and 8pm and traffic diversions will be in place.
