Improvements to Dronfield Sport Centre’s swimming pool have been delayed after the main contractor entered into administration.
Wood-Mitchell Building Group had been refurbishing the centre since December 2014.
Paul Hackett, of North East Derbyshire Council, said: “The work is nearly complete, but when a firm enters administration everything stops.”
He said the council did not know how long the delay would last, but was doing everything it could to get things moving.
“They have reached an agreement with the administrators to have the project completed and work has now resumed.”
The refurbishment works include new pool liners, improved steps, underwater LED lighting, new windows, upgraded changing room areas with improved drainage and new shower facilities.
