A BIRTHDAY bash for one of Doncaster’s best-known Chinese restaurants also provided a big boost for a children’s health charity.

More than 250 people attended the 20th anniversary celebration for the China Rose in South Parade, Bawtry, and enjoyed a three-course banquet, jazz music by Mark Ellis and his band, and playing at a casino.

The event raised a total of £3,300 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Parents’ Association for Children with Tumours and Leukaemia.

The restaurant has hosted many charity events over the years, including an annual fashion show for Cancer Research.
