ONE of Doncaster’s best known gyms has been shortlisted in an industry awards.

The Fitness Village at Doncaster Dome has been recognised for its quality of service and value for money in the Members Choice Health Club Awards 2011.

The scheme measures the quality of customer service, facilities and value provided by clubs by asking members to rate them by completing an online questionnaire.

Simon Brown who runs the competition said: “Only 90 clubs across the UK have reached the shortlist stage of the competition and every single one of them should be extremely proud of that fact.

“There’s no better endorsement for a club than from the customers that are using the facilities on a regular basis, and that says a huge amount about the way these clubs are run.”

The competition saw over 16,000 gym members complete a questionnaire between January and March this year.

Clubs have been ranked in 15 regions, and up to 10 clubs have been shortlisted in each region. In September the regional gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced, as well as the individual Grand Prix awards for Best Club in the UK.

Kraig Kelly, from Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust which manages the Dome and 11 other venues in Doncaster, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award. Our team are extremely proud to be in the top ten venues in Yorkshire and Humber.”
