A SOUTH Yorkshire hospital has introduced a simple system to ensure vulnerable patients are not put at risk of dehydration.
Barnsley Hospital has introduced the red jug and beaker project across the site following a pilot scheme.
It sees coloured utensils given to people are who are not taking in enough fluids, with the idea that they alert staff and relatives to encourage patients to drink.
The inspiration for the initiative came from the red tray pathway, where patients who may have problems eating have their meals use red trays so staff can make sure they are taking the nourishment they need.
