Dearne Valley Ramblers, SUN 28 MAY. The Five Churches Walk. A beautiful circular route mostly along ancient footpaths and bridleways which have been used for hundreds of years by local people and visitors alike. Stepping in their footsteps you will visit the picturesque villages of Wales, harthill, Thorpe Salvin, South Anston and Todwick and be able to appreciate some of Rotherham’s finist church architecture. Some mud and a few stiles along the way (of course!) PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WALK WAS ORIGINALLY GOING TO BE TOWARDS THE END OF JUNE BUT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY 28 MAY. Start time: 10:00. SUMMER WALKS BY TRAIN, Walkers are being invited to discover the South and West Yorkshire countryside using public transport over the summer on a series of eleven railway rambles with the Penistone Line Partnership. Most walks follow public rights of way between stations along the Penistone Line linking Sheffield, Barnsley, Penistone and Huddersfield and all are accessible by departing from SHEFFIELD and MEADOWHALL stations on Saturdays.
