Doncaster Ramblers: SAT 19 AUG. Hathersage Classic. This is a captivating circular 11 miler, starting from Hathersage, south to Hazelford Hall, then Stoke Ford and up to the pub at Bretton for lunch. Then along Hucklow Edge to the steep descent/ascent to Abney Grange and across Abney Moor, down Shatton Lane to the Derwent and back to Hathersage. Starting point: Meet in the car park at Hathersage. TUES 22 AUG. A Little Bit Up and a Little Bit Down - a Grindleford Circular. A popular walk starting at Grindleford Station and following a route up pretty Padley Gorge, along Millstone Edge and into Hathersage for lunch. The afternoon walk is a leisurely walk back alongside the River Derwent to Grindleford. A couple of steady climbs in the morning but nothing too daunting. Dearne Valley Ramblers, SUN 20 AUG. The Win Hill Challenge. Along the Lakeside track up Wooler Knoll, and then a gradual climb along the ridge leading to the summit of Win Hill. SUMMER WALKS BY TRAIN, Walkers are being invited to discover the South and West Yorkshire countryside using public transport over the summer on a series of eleven railway rambles with the Penistone Line Partnership. Most walks follow public rights of way between stations along the Penistone Line linking Sheffield, Barnsley, Penistone and Huddersfield and all are accessible by departing from SHEFFIELD and MEADOWHALL stations on Saturdays.
