Plans for the site of Sheffield’s former Don Valley Stadium are to be revealed in detail at a public event in the city centre.

Proposals for an Olympic Legacy Park will come under the spotlight at Sheffield Hallam University’s Adsetts Learning Centre next Monday, from 6pm.

The blueprint includes a new Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, which will help deliver London 2012 Olympics legacy targets on health, linking the medical, physical activity, leisure and sports sectors.

Sheffield Eagles rugby league club will also move into a new purpose-built complex in the development, which features a high-quality synthetic pitch and a main stand seating 2,500, a 50-bedroom hotel, catering and hospitality areas and facilities developed in partnership with Sheffield’s second University Technical College. A new multi-purpose indoor community arena will be the future home of the Sheffield Sharks basketball club.
