Picturing a perfect summer in Sheffield

thankyou, it is the field behind my house at Coal Aston, dronfield, derbyshire. I am 46 and i took this using my phone on 30th june 2012 whilst out walking my dog - struck me as the perfect English summer, blue sky, white fluffy clouds and the ominous threat of rain ever present!! The poppies were at their best just then. I live on Eckington road and the views change daily looking out of our window over towards Norton water tower.'Regards'Fiona Higgins

Have your say

THE weather might be unpredictable – but the sun is always shining on summer in The Star.

We asked readers to send in their best sunshine snaps - and here are just a few of the super selection which landed in our email, on our Facebook page and via The Star’s Twitter account.

From golden images of grandchildren which warmed the heart, to holiday photos at home and abroad, your sparkling shots reflect the way you’re spending summer.

Images could be snapped anywhere - in the garden, the streets of the city centre, on a day trip out, or on summer holidays to sunnier climes.

Reader Lee Doane captured the golden palms of Chapel St Leonards in Lincolnshire, while Dot Smith snapped her grandson having fun on the beach in Cornwall and 46-year-old Fiona Higgins snapped a poppy field close to her home in Eckington Road, Coal Aston.

Further afield, Gary Hazlehurst, from Eckington, photographed a content fisherman and his dog in Lanzarote.

There is still time to send us your pictures, which we’ll endeavour to publish in The Star and online on our website:

n Email them to news@thestar.co.uk with Summer Snaps in the subject field
