PARROTS at the Tropical Butterfly House in North Anston are taking to the skies to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Flying conditions have been tough during the cold and snowy winter.

But now the drizzle and biting winds have dropped and temperatures are rising, Alfie and Coco are ready to spread their wings in the park’s daily bird shows.

There’s also a new addition to the team - a large green-winged Macaw called ‘Kato.’

After much training, the 10 month-old parrot - who originates from South America - is ready to join his new teammates.

Trainer Ben Coulson said: “He has a great personality and we’re excited to see him in action.”

Animal presenter Heather Scott said: “Birds don’t really enjoy flying when it’s drizzly and windy.

“They’re much happier now that spring has come.”
