Final auditions are held at The Frenchgate Centre, Doncaster, on Sunday for the role of Wendy at the Doncaster Racecourse panto Peter Pan, this Christmas.
The fairytale is set to wing its way to Doncaster Racecourse between December 12 and January 04, and over the past few months, producers David Lee and Stadium Entertainments Events Ltd have been scouring South Yorkshire to cast the roles of The Lost Boys, John and Michael Darling, as well as Wendy.
The top 10 Wendys were chosen last month at an open audition held at the racecourse and now a judging panel comprising of producer David Lee, choreographer Vicky Lowe, Doncaster Racecourse’s events manager Nikki Griffiths and special guest Robin Colvill from the Grumbleweeds, will put the finalists through their paces before casting the leading role.
Pantomime producer David Lee, said: “I’m really excited to see how our final 10 ‘Wendys’ perform in a public arena this Sunday, it will be a real test of talent.
“I’m also delighted that Robin Colvill will be making an appearance as a special guest judge. The Grumbleweeds are of course Yorkshire comedy legends and they smashed box office records at the Civic Theatre when they appeared in Snow White several years ago. I’m sure Robin will be a popular guest on the day.”
Nikki Griffiths, events manager at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We’re really proud to be partnering with David Lee to host our first traditional pantomime at the racecourse, which is sure to offer some great festive fun for all of the family.
“I’m really excited to be a part of the selection panel for Sunday’s final Wendy auditions. We’ve seen some fantastic talent already and I’m sure that the judges and members of the public will be in for a real treat.”
The pantomime will star Sally Thomsett from the Golden Age of TV Sitcoms like Man About The House and hit movies like The Railway Children as Mrs Darling. It will also see the welcome return of comedy favourite Pee Wee Price in the role of Smee.
Prior to Sunday’s recall auditions, Pee Wee together with Tinker Bell will be presenting three 15 minute free performances, (at 11:00a.m. 11:30a.m. and 12 noon) to entertain three to five year olds in a show entitled ‘Tinker Bell’s Nursery Rhyme Sing-A-Long’.
The Search for Wendy final public auditions will take place from 12.30pm upstairs in the Frenchgate Centre between Debenhams and Waterstones.
