Town councillors in Tickhill say they strongly oppose a planning application to change land on Lancaster Crescent from agricultural to equine use.
They say the occasional use of the land for horse shows under existing legislation has raised several problems, and the council feels that a permanent change of use of the green belt site is undesirable.
Councillors said they disagreed with a statement made by the applicant that the site would not be affected by flooding, because events in the last few years had demonstrated that the land was prone to flooding.
The council said that traffic problems had arisen from the type and flow of vehicles used on event days because of the restricted access route to the site and parking in Lancaster Crescent.
They have also recommended that Doncaster Council planning officials carry out a site visit so they can appreciate the disturbance that is caused on show days before they make a decision.
