OLYMPIC cycling champ Ed Clancy turned his wheels of steel on Sheffield and helped to hand out sporty goodie bags to fans who gathered in the city centre.

Ed was joined by breakfast TV presenter Gethin Jones for a visit to Barker’s Pool by the Daybreak show bus.

Gethin said: “The whole nation has been inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic Games and we want to make sure that legacy carries on.”

Ed said: “Regardless of whether it’s riding your bike to work or mucking about at the weekend, any sport is good and the more people that get stuck in the better.”

And under the shadow of her giant poster on John Lewis, both congratulated Jess Ennis on her success.

Gethin said: “If you’ve got heroes like Jess Ennis people will always look up to them and want to emulate them which is fantastic.”
