AFTER three long years, and £63 million set aside to repay overcharged customers, npower had hoped the sorry saga would be history by now – but no.
The energy firm was supposed to have refunded 1.8m customers by the end of November, but a mailout was delayed.
Then it snowed in December, then it was Christmas and ultimately people due refunds of up to 100 were still waiting come January.
An npower spokesman said they were sending a letter to everyone who had not claimed so far, asking them to call for instructions.
They will eventually receive a money order, valid for six months that can only be cashed at the Post Office, on production of two forms of identification.
Beware: some people, especially those who have left the firm, might think the letter from npower is junk and chuck it in the bin.
An npower spokeswoman said the design of letters was agreed by Consumer Focus, the watchdog behind the refunds.
The envelope is deliberately designed not to look like junk and it was not being sent with bills.
