BARNSLEY National Union of Mineworkers branch is hosting the annual Yorkshire NUM David Jones and Joe Green Memorial Lecture this Saturday from 10.45am.

The event, at the Miners Offices, Victoria Road, Barnsley, includes speeches from broadcaster Ian Clayton and MP Dan Jarvis.

£60m on the buses

SOUTH Yorkshire passengers are to benefit from some of 400 new buses ordered by operator Stagecoach at a cost of £60 million. The company has not yet decided how many new buses will be allocated to South Yorkshire operations, which are mainly in Sheffield, Barnsley and the Dearne Valley.

A LUXURY ‘weddings experience’ show visits Barnsley this Sunday from 11am to 3pm. Top wedding venue Wentworth Castle Gardens, in Stainborough, is the backdrop for the free event showcasing wedding exhibitors. Parking costs £3.
