A SHEFFIELD-based theatre company is bringing a new arts education initiative to the region’s children that promises to be a blast.
Griffin Theatre Arts has developed the Dynamite Project, to be aimed at five to 18-year-olds over the next eight months.
Youngsters will get involved in arts experiences that champion their creativity and celebrate their regional heritage. The project will roll out in three phases - Fuse, Ignite and Explosion - and will be delivered by professional arts practitioners.
Through creating, exhibiting and performing art, music and drama, children will be working with local artists to create a new play to be performed as part of the 2013 Sheffield Children’s Festival.
Backing for the scheme has come from the Arts Council, Museums Sheffield and the National Coal Mining Museum.
The project will also specifically target regional areas of social, economic and cultural deprivation.
Schools can get involved by visiting www.griffintheatrearts.com or by contacting 0114 221 0241.
