A HISTORIC exhibition about the efforts of South Yorkshire soldiers serving in the Boer War has gone on show at Rotherham Library.
Rotherham Archives and Local Studies’ Service, on the first floor of central library and arts centre at Walker Place, is hosting the display of old documents and photographs from the York and Lancaster Regiment Museum.
The Boer War took place in South Africa between 1899 and 1902 when Boer farmers rebelled against colonial rule.
The York and Lancaster Regiment sent hundreds of South Yorkshire men to fight.
Among the exhibits are a written account of one battalion’s activities in South Africa, and an album of photographs taken as the events were happening.
The display will run until December 24.
