A Sheffield writer has published her first children’s book – eight years after she first had the idea.
Sylvia Brown has written The Rainbow Clan Invades Planet Earth, a 40-page book aimed at children aged about eight.
The 51-year-old said: “It’s a fun story. It’s about four aliens who come into contact with some bank robbers when their spacecraft crash lands on Earth.
“They need money to get it fixed, so they end up stealing cash from the robbers.
“It all ends well with the bad guys getting arrested.”
Sylvia has always been interested in writing.
However, as a mum of two young children, she never had the time.
Now her children are grown up she has the time to write, with children’s fiction her favourite.
Sylvia, of Shirecliffe, said: “I find the fantasy of children’s books far more interesting than anything grown-ups deal with.”
The book began life eight years ago when Sylvia had the idea, before she started writing it 18 months ago. It was published in January.
She said: “It’s selling well so I’m pleased. As well as Amazon, it’s on WHSmith’s websites too.”
But Sylvia is too busy to sit back and enjoy the success as she is now writing the sequel.
