STRANGE structures and curious creations appeared in Sheffield city centre as part of a project by Sheffield University’s student architects.
The annual event on The Moor saw more than 90 first-years bringing a variety of inventive ideas to life – with 11 installations put in place during the day.
They included a stone sculpture which appeared to defy gravity, and a curved arch constructed from straw bales. Only one of the structures failed, made from sugar glass, the sort actors fall through in Hollywood films, it simply broke.
“The day went well and attracted lots of interest from passers-by,” said James Hickman, aged 19.
