YOUNGSTERS from Sheffield dance schools will be pirouetting onto the stage during a children’s ballet musical at the Lyceum Theatre next week.

Angelina Ballerina, featuring a group of dancing mice, is being performed from Wednesday, October 31, to Saturday, November 3.

Girls from June D Gill School of Dancing, Broomhill, are joining the show on two of the days.

June said: “We have eight girls aged six to eight taking part – Amelia Scott, Annabelle Frow, Angel Grant Bennett, Eve Rodgers, Eva Shrimpton, Esta Swift, Frankie Smith and Katie Civil.

“It won’t be their first taste of the limelight – we performed the Wizard of Oz at the Crucible in July as part of Sheffield Children’s Festival.”

June D Gill dancers will appear during performances on the Wednesday and Thursday.

Youngsters from three other dance schools are also taking part in shows –- Emma Coombs School of Dance, The Lord’s School of Dance and Razzamataz Theatre School.

Angelina Ballerina has been created by leading children’s entertainment writer and director Miranda Larson, of Bob The Builder Live fame, composer Barrie Bignold, who was involved with The Tweenies and choreographer Matthew Cole, from Strictly Come Dancing.

The production features catchy music, dancing and colourful costumes.

During the show, Angelina and friends think their dreams have come true when Camembert Academy wins the opportunity to appear in television programme Dancing With Mice!

But when the girls and boys have different ideas for the show and cannot seem to agree, it is up to Angelina, as dance captain, to ensure the show goes ahead.

n Tickets for Angelia Ballerina are on sale from Sheffield Theatres’ Box Office, priced £16 for adults and £13 for children under 16. Call 0114 249 6000 to book.
