A BUSTLING bar has won praise for bringing a whole new meaning in pub grub to Sheffield city centre.

Staff at the Wig and Pen are celebrating after being named in the prestigious Michelin Eating Out In Pubs guide 2013.

The accolade comes just two years after the Campo Lane business opened its doors and means that it now joins sister pub The Milestone on the culinary world’s definitive list of the best dining in bars across the UK and Ireland.

The pub is one of 81 new entries announced this year.

Matt Bigland, Wig and Pen co-owner, said: “This is an amazing achievement for the team who have worked long and hard for the last two years. This year especially has been about consistency, which is what makes a great restaurant.

“We have had a great few months being entered into the Good Food Guide 2013, picking up the Best Informal Restaurant award at the Eat Sheffield awards and now being placed alongside our sister restaurant the Milestone in the Michelin guide.

“The Wig and Pen was taken over by The Milestone in December 2010, with the same ethos - to create dishes using local, seasonal food and ensuring all items are produced in-house daily such as fresh organic bread.

Also included are Inn at Troway, the Devonshire Arms at Beeley and the Chequers at Froggatt - all in the Peak District.
