The Mayor’s reputation for enjoying the best of British food was put to the taste test at Doncaster market.
Students from Doncaster College’s catering department fired up the BBQ on Goosehill, outside the Fish Market, and Peter Davies was more than happy to tuck into a sizzling banger made in Doncaster.
Members of the public were also able to sample flame-grilled delights including mini burgers, tortillas, corn on the cob, tandoori food, and chargrilled vegetables.
Said Mr Davies: “If you are having a barbecue this weekend then Doncaster markets are the place to go shopping. You’ll find everything you need from the finest steaks to award winning sausages, fresh fish and seafood, bread, cheeses as well as salad – all at a fantastic price.”
Butcher Danny Wilkinson, who put his award winning bangers on the coals, said: “There is nothing better than a good quality, locally produced barbecued sausage.”
