Steve Faulkner’s taken his bag of tricks across the world - and now he’s bringing it all back home for the return of his magic night.

Steve last brought his blend of magic and comedy to Sheffield with a performance at the Memorial Hall in 2013 but, following a layoff, he is resurrecting his show at the Greystones tomorrow (Friday).

“This is the first one in a couple of years, so it should be a really good one and the line up is very strong,” said Steve, a two-time British Champion Street Performer and Magic Circle Close-Up Awards runner-up.

“The last two I have put on have been at the City Hall, so it’s a return to the Greystones where it all started.”

Steve, who lives in Ecclesall, said an increase in the number of magicians appearing on TV has led to a resurgence in the art.

“At the moment magic is doing very well. Over the last few years we’ve had Dynamo and Derren Brown on TV, and there are always magicians on Britain’s Got Talent.

“Even people who think they don’t like magic will enjoy it when it’s performed properly. It’s part of the zeitgeist at the moment.”

Describing the format of his show, Steve said: “It’s a little like a comedy night but magic-based.

“I’m lucky as, because of the reputation of the audience, performers are willing to travel for a reduced fee to do it.”

On Friday’s bill is Andi Gladwin - who performed at President Obama’s inauguration - John Holt, who mixes tricks and stand-up, and John Archer, who has recently been touring with comedian Tim Vine.

n The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £12, visit www.mygreystones.co.uk to book.
