SHEFFIELD historian Neil Anderson has released a special edition of his book about The Limit nightclub – which includes a free print of a Def Leppard flyer and accompanying story behind it.
The book was a local best-seller when it was released three-and-a-half years ago.
But there was always one extra piece of the jigsaw Anderson hoped to add, the story of a rare flyer handwritten by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott.
It was early band roadie Andy Smith – a schoolfriend of Elliott, a former pupil at King Edward VII School in Broomhill – who finaly found the final piece of the puzzle.
Andy said: “Joe and myself wandered around the city centre sticking these flyers up.
“Joe had used a red marker pen to write the date and venue on his, I’d done the same on mine with a black marker.”
Smith turned his house upside down searching for the 35-year-old flyer and finally found it inside a record sleeve.
