Bawtry Town Council is on the lookout for volunteers willing to serve on a committee that could run Bawtry library in the future.
Doncaster Council says it will cease to be responsible for providing the facility as part of its borough-wide library closure plan caused by the cutbacks programme.
Town councillors say they want to negotiate the future of the library with the local authority, in particular the basis on which it could be run as a charitable set-up.
By this method councillors could ensure the Doncaster Road library not only remains open but that its role in the community can be extended and enhanced.
Bawtry Town Council would like to hear from any resident who is willing and able to serve on a steering committee to take the proposed scheme forward and who has any suggestions of how the library can be further developed into a hub of the community.
