FOUR Doncaster area youth football teams have scored after being given a new sponsored team kit by bus company First.

Dozens of under-16 football players from Wheatley Wanderers, South Kirby Colliery, Danum Juniors and Adwick Allstars were chosen from dozens of teams that applied for kits across the South Yorkshire area, as part of a campaign advertised on buses before Christmas.

The football goodies, which also included training kits and footballs, were given to players and managers at a special event at First’s Doncaster depot in Leger Way.

Wheatley Wanderers under-nines team, run by First bus driver Mike Watson, has donated old kits to the Hidden Treasure School in Uganda, where the majority of pupils are HIV positive.

Brandon Jones, Commercial Director for First in South Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to help out four youth football teams in the Doncaster area by giving them new kits and training equipment.

“More good news is that this year there will be thousands of pounds available from our new charity and sponsorship committee.”
