THE popping of corks at Renishaw Hall near Sheffield marked the start of celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee - with the estate’s very own sparkling wine.
Owner Alexandra Sitwell raised a glass to toast the Summer Nights Film Festival - special outdoor movie screenings to celebrate the Jubilee, two of which are taking place in Renishaw gardens.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the estate’s vineyard, still one of the most northerly in Britain, planted by her late father, Sir Reresby Sitwell, in 1972.
Friends and families are invited to take blankets and a picnic to Renishaw to enjoy the King’s Speech on Friday, June 1, at 7.30pm, or The Queen on Saturday, June 2, at 7.30pm, with the stunning hall as a backdrop.
Alexandra was joined for the launch by David James from Visit Peak District, Chris Hordley from Creative England and Adam Buss from art and film organisation QUAD.
She said: “The revenue and interest film brings to this area is crucial for visitor attractions and historic houses such as Renishaw Hall to thrive.
“It’s fitting that we are toasting our Diamond Jubilee celebrations with a glass of our very own sparkling wine.”
